With a 7-0 win over hapless Wagiya F.C., Police United F.C. laid claim to the top spot in the current PLB Standings. The game, played on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio featured 1st half goals from Brandon Cacho (14′), Darren Myers (19′) and Harrison Roches (23′). The Police team continued its dominance in the 2nd half with goals from Devon Makin (57′), Harrison Roches’ 2nd in the 78th minute and the ageless Norman Pipersburg contributed a brace in the 82nd and 89th minutes respectively to round out the scoring. The win raised Police’s point tally to 15 giving them both the top spot in the ranking and a confirmed spot in the 2015/16 Opening Tournament Playoffs.
On Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Michael Ashcroft in Independence, Placencia Assassins kept their run at a playoff spot going with a 3-2 win over BDF F.C. Although BDF struck 1st in the 6th minute on a goal from James Flores, Placencia maintained their composure took command of the game with 2 1st half goals from Luis Torres (18′) and Ashley Torres(31′). Luis Torres’ 2nd goal (47′) gave him a brace in the contest and his team the 3-1 lead before an own goal by Jesus Urbina (75′) closed the BDF deficit to 1 goal. BDF, however could not find another goal and fell 3-2 leaving them still with 8 points and in the 5th position of the PLB standings and with 2 games left, it’s not looking particularly good for their playoff chances either.
The 3rd game of the weekend was supposed to have been played on Saturday at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan, where bitter rivals Belmopan Bandits and Verdes were to have renewed acquaintances. The match however, was suspended as there was a disagreement over the Verdes roster. A release from the League stated that the circumstances were being reviewed by the League’s Disciplinary Board and that their decision would be released later this week.
The PLB’s Week 9 schedule has the Bandits paying a visit to Placencia Assassins, BDF hosting Police and last place Wagiya make the journey to San Ignacio to take on Verdes.
