With the 2015/16 Closing Tournament set to kick off this coming weekend, perennial threats, Belmopan Bandits S.C. bolstered their attack earlier today when they concluded the transfer of Honduran International, Kelvin Johnson from Honduran 2nd Division Club, Lepaera F.C. Although Bandits finished the Opening Tournament Regular Season top of the table on points as well as recording the most goals scored, they faltered in their semi-final match-up against arch rivals Verdes, only mustering 1 goal during the home and away series.
Of course, the start of the Closing Tournament also signals the stretch run where 2016/17 CONCACAF Champions League qualification is concerned and Johnson is expected to be part of a renewed Bandit’s effort to reclaim the CONCACAF spot. Johnson also has two international appearances for Honduras to his credit having been called up to that country’s National Team in 2012 when he saw action against Panama and Canada.
Bandits also announced its intent to acquire the services of Belize National Team goalkeeper, Shane Moody-Orio. Moody-Orio is expected to return to Belizean football for the 1st time since 2005 when the Bandits kick off their Closing Tournament campaign this Saturday, against Police United F.C., and his transfer is expected to be concluded by close of business tomorrow, Friday, January 22, 2016.
